The M3U Playlist Maker is a tool designed for RadioDJ users who want to create high‑quality, metadata‑rich playlists in the .m3u format. It supports BPM presets, genre filtering, year filtering, exclusion rules, and remixing of existing playlists.

1. Overview

The M3U Playlist Maker allows you to:

• Create new playlists based on filters
• Use BPM presets or manual BPM ranges
• Filter by genre and year
• Exclude unwanted words from titles
• Generate repeatable results using a random seed
• Remix (shuffle) existing M3U playlists
• Export playlists with RadioDJ cue metadata (#RDJDATA)

2. Creating a New Playlist

2.1 Hours

Enter the number of hours you want the playlist to last. The system automatically selects enough tracks to match the duration.

2.2 Custom Filename

Enter a custom filename for the playlist. If left empty, the system generates a timestamp‑based name.

3. BPM Mode

The BPM Mode determines how the playlist handles tempo selection.

3.1 Preset BPM Modes

• Slow (20–50 BPM)
• Medium (50–100 BPM)
• Fast (100–150 BPM)
• Faster (150–200 BPM)
• Extreme (200–300 BPM)
• Slow → Fast – Gradual BPM increase
• Fast → Slow – Gradual BPM decrease

3.2 Manual BPM Range

If BPM Mode is set to Manual, you can specify:

• BPM min – Minimum allowed BPM
• BPM max – Maximum allowed BPM

4. Genre and Year Filters

4.1 Genre Selection

Select one or multiple genres from your RadioDJ database. Leave empty to allow all genres.

4.2 Year Range

Filter tracks by release year using:

• Year min
• Year max

5. Exclude Words

Enter words that must not appear in the track title. Example: live, remix, extended

6. Random Seed

Enter a number to make playlist generation repeatable. Using the same seed and filters will produce the same playlist.

7. Generating the Playlist

Click Generate Playlist to create a new playlist. The system will:

• Apply all filters
• Select matching tracks
• Generate an .m3u file
• Save it in the M3U folder
• Show a preview of the first lines

8. Understanding the Output

A typical playlist entry looks like this:

Each entry contains:

• #EXTINF – Duration, artist, title

9. Remixing an Existing Playlist

The Remix function allows you to shuffle an existing M3U playlist.

Steps:

1. Select an existing playlist from the dropdown
2. Enter a new filename
3. Click Remix M3U

The system shuffles the track order while keeping all metadata intact.

10. Preview and Result

After generating or remixing a playlist, the tool displays:

• The name of the created file
• A preview of the first lines

11. Resetting the Screen

Use the Refresh / Reset Screen button to clear all fields and start over.
